About PTCF

The Palisades Tahoe Community Foundation (PTCF) is a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting Palisades Tahoe student-athletes and the legacy of the Olympic Valley community. We empower athletes with scholarships, academic resources, and community support to cultivate future leaders on and off the hill. Since 2014, PTCF has awarded more than $1M in scholarships and continues to expand its impact through access, education, and community initiatives.

Role Overview

PTCF seeks a Volunteer Copywriter to craft and polish the words that drive our mission forward. This role will create copy for web, email, social, print materials, and donor communications—ensuring that PTCF’s voice is consistent, warm, and inspiring. The Volunteer Copywriter will collaborate with the Social Media Manager, Graphic Designer, and Development Team to produce high-quality content that resonates with athletes, families, donors, and sponsors.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation

  • Write clear, inspiring copy for newsletters, social posts, event promotions, website pages, and donor campaigns.
  • Draft compelling storytelling pieces featuring athletes, scholarship recipients, volunteers, and community milestones.


Editing & Quality Control

  • Edit and proofread communications for grammar, clarity, tone, and consistency.
  • Ensure alignment with brand voice guidelines across digital and print materials.
  • Support grant proposals and fundraising collateral with concise, persuasive writing.

Campaign & Event Support

  • Collaborate with the Social Media Manager and Graphic Designer to create unified campaign messaging.
  • Provide last-minute editing for time-sensitive announcements, press releases, and event signage.
  • Help craft scripts and talking points for board members, emcees, and program speakers.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of writing and editing experience (nonprofit, marketing, journalism, or communications preferred).
  • Strong understanding of storytelling techniques and brand voice.
  • Excellent grammar, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience writing for digital platforms (email, social media, web) and traditional print materials.
  • Knowledge of snow-sports culture, youth athletics, or the Tahoe community is a plus.
  • Collaborative, deadline-driven, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities.

Time Commitment

  • Estimated ~5 hours per month, with increased needs during major fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Flexible hybrid/remote role with virtual collaboration meetings as needed.
