Palisades Tahoe Community Foundation is seeking a Volunteer Social Media Manager to help tell the stories of our athletes, families, and community. This part-time unpaid volunteer role will manage PTCF’s social media calendar, create engaging content, with a focus on fundraising events, content sponsorships, and spotlighting the amazing student athletes, coaches and families in our Palisades Tahoe community. All of this is in service to helping Palisades Tahoe student athletes compete at their highest level on and off the mountain.

Volunteer Social Media Manager

The Palisades Tahoe Community Foundation (PTCF) is a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting Palisades Tahoe student-athletes and the legacy of the Olympic Valley community. We empower athletes with scholarships, academic resources, and community support to cultivate future leaders on and off the hill. Since 2014, PTCF has awarded more than $1M in scholarships and continues to expand its impact through access, education, and community initiatives.

Role Overview

PTCF seeks a Volunteer Social Media Manager to grow and manage its digital presence, with a focus on storytelling, community engagement, and sponsor visibility. This role oversees PTCF’s social channels, content strategy, and social media calendar, ensuring alignment with our mission to support student-athletes and foster a thriving Olympic Valley community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Strategy & Calendar
    • Ideate, build, and manage a weekly social media calendar that integrates key moments: marquee events (e.g., Giving Tuesday, Warren Miller Film Premiere, Peak 2 Peak Race, Speaker Series), fundraising campaigns, athlete content, and brand sponsorship commitments.
    • Plan, schedule, and execute consistent posting across Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms.

  • Content Creation & Storytelling
    • Develop engaging photo, video, and written content highlighting athletes, scholarships, academic programs, and community celebrations.

  • Brand & Partner Representation
    • Collaborate across multiple stakeholders (board, athletes, sponsors, Team Palisades Tahoe, Palisades Tahoe Marketing, and local nonprofits) to ensure accurate and consistent brand representation, including sponsor logos, copy, and co-branded content.
    • Support fundraising and donor recognition through tailored digital campaigns.

  • Community Engagement
    • Build authentic engagement with athletes, families, coaches, alumni, and sponsors.
    • Monitor comments, messages, and tags to maintain a positive, timely presence.


  • Analytics, Reporting & Paid Media
    • Track social performance metrics (engagement, reach, growth).
    • Deliver quarterly reports and recommendations to the Board of Directors.
    • Produce season recaps for sponsors, ensuring clear visibility into campaign performance, athlete storytelling, and community impact.
    • Provide year-end recap and next-season recommendations/asks to the Board of Directors & Palisades Tahoe Leadership
    • Manage paid media campaigns, including setup, optimization, performance tracking, and post-campaign reporting with learnings and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of social media management experience (nonprofit, youth sports, or outdoor industry preferred).
  • Strong grasp of content calendars, digital storytelling, and short-form video.
  • Proficient with Canva, CapCut, iMovie and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent copywriting, design sense, and visual storytelling skills.
  • Knowledge of snow sports culture, youth athletics, or the Tahoe community is strongly preferred.
  • Organized, collaborative, and experienced working across diverse stakeholders.

Time Commitment

  • Estimated 5-10 hours per week, with heavier lift around key events.
  • Flexible hybrid/remote role with some onsite presence at Palisades Tahoe events.
